:: LIMA

The city of Lima, founded in 1535, was the capital city of the Viceroyalty and the most important city during the Spanish Colony. Today, it´s the country´s capital city and the main entrance gate to Peru. The city´s center has been declared as Humanity´s Cultural Patrimony in 1991, by the UNESCO, due to its great colonial beauty which keeps its old tradition. However, it´s a modern metropolis, with an important touristic infrastructure; mixture of history and modernity...

In touristic places, one can visit from pre-inca sites like Pachacamac, to colonial mansions and churches in good state of conservation. This is why Lima is an ideal city to organize congresses and events.

GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION :
The Department of Lima is situated in the Center-West part of the country. On one side, it´s bathed by the Pacific Ocean´s waters and on the other, it meets with the Andean Cordillera. It has an area of 33,820 Km2 and its population is over 7 million inhabitants; almost a third of Peru´s whole population.
GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES :
To the North, with Ancash and Huánuco; to the South, with Ica and Hancavelica; to the East, with Pasco and Junín and to the West, with th Pacific Ocean.
CLIMATE :
The annual average temperature during the summer months (from mid December to mid March), is of 25°C. If you travel to Lima in that time period, you will be able to fully enjoy the ocean´s delights. In the winter, the days are gray, clouded, there is quite a lot of humidity and the average temperature fluctuates between 12 and 15°C.
ACCESS WAYS :
BY LAND :

Lima is linked to all the coastal cities, by the modern Panamerican Road, which runs parallel to the sea. Its Northern section goes from Lima and reaches Tumbes (border with Ecuador), 1,370 Km. from Lima and the Southern section goes 1,291 Km. to Tacna (border with Chile). The connection with the Cordillera´s cities is made by the Central Road, by the itinerary Paramonga – Huaraz (asphalted) and the secondary compacted roads Cañete – Yauyos – Huancayo, Huacho – Oyón – Háanuco and Lima – Canta.
BY SEA :

The Callao is the country´s most important sea port and it benefits from one of the South Pacific´s major traffics. There, great foreign cruisers come as part of their route around South America, like the “Cunard Princess Cruises” and “Hapag Lloyd” among others. One of the ports these ships frequent most is the Callao (Constitutional Province of Callao – Lima).
BY AIR :

All the international flights arrive and depart from Jorge Chavez International Airport, situated in the Callao´s Constitutional Province, 20 minutes away from the center of Lima.
