AREQUIPA
Is also called the “White City”. The region has a splendid geography and beautiful cities, with the impressing Colca Canyon, with its terrasses and colonial churches or its snow-capped peaks which still keep ancient mysteries like that of the Juanita Mummy and that of the “birth” of the Amazon River in the Cotahuasi Canyon; the deepest canyon in the world. And that is, without forgetting the majestuous volcano Misti with its 5,822 m. above sea level.

CLIMATE : |
|
The region of Arequipa presents several climates on its territory, which go from hot and warm (typical of the coast) to freezing cold in glaciers and everlasting snows (in the mountains). The climate is hot and humid on the coast, with little rainfalls.
At about 1,000 m. of altitude, the climate varies from warm to moderate and moderate to cold in the mountains that dominate the landscape.
The variation in temperature is important between sunlit and shadowy areas and between day and night. On the high peaks, the temperature falls considerably and only reaches above 0°C during the warmest month of the year.
But it must be considered that this average can vary during the year. Snowfalls are frequent, with greater incidence during the months of July and August; a phenomenon which causes great economical losses among farmers and cattle breeders in the region.
In the Andes, the rains fall regularly between the months of January and March. On the coast, drizzle is common, as well as fog at ground level.
